Jörg Asmussen

Jörg Asmussen has been Chief Executive Officer of the German Insurance Association (GDV) since October 2020. In this function he is member of the GDV Executive Board.
After high school and civilian service, Jörg Asmussen studied economics at the Universities of Gießen and Bonn (diploma in economics) and graduated with a master degree in business administration (MBA) at the Bocconi University in Milan.
After completing his studies, Jörg Asmussen worked for an economic research and consulting company in Cologne for two years before moving to the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) in 1996, where he was, among other things, head of the ministerial office, head of the financial services and financial markets department and state secretary.
From 2012 to 2013 Jörg Asmussen was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB).
From 2014 to 2015 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS).
In 2016 he moved to the investment bank Lazard, most recently as Head of M & A for Europe and Head of the Financial Institutions Group for Continental Europe.
