Markus Spielmann

After completing his reinsurance apprenticeship at Munich Re, Munich, Markus took on various managerial responsibilities in Marine – both in Germany and South Africa – and eventually headed up the Marine Department for Germany, Asia Pacific and Africa. Before he joined Munich Re of Africa as General Manager Non-Life in April 2014, the Property and Engineering facultative reinsurance business for Germany, Middle East, North Africa was added to his responsibilities. After returning to Germany in 2016, he assumed responsibility for Munich Re’s Marine and Energy Reinsurance business for Lloyd’s and global clients before being promoted in 2023 to lead Munich Re’s global Marine and Energy reinsurance practice.
