Mats Johan Waage joined NIORD from Norwegian Hull Club, which he joined as a Commercial Legal Advisor in 2022.
From 2008 to 2014, Mats worked as a Contracts and Procurement Consultant with global professional services company Turner & Townsend. During his tenure there, he worked mainly for Equinor supporting procurement and contract management for major global Oil & Gas development projects.
From 2014 to 2020, Mats worked as a Legal Advisor in the DOF Subsea group. He was responsible for all legal aspects of projects, both during the tender as well as the execution phase. Later he joined the Institute of Marine Research as Senior Adviser, providing legal advice in relation to the institute’s subsea projects as well as for Norwegian and international research partnerships.
Throughout his career, Mats has been involved in insurance-related matters ranging from EPCI-based project execution to general vessel operations on a time-charter basis. He has a keen interest in EPCI, T&I and Vessel Charter contracts and the insurance obligations that comes along with them.
Mats holds a Master’s in Law from the University of Bergen, Norway.
