Melanie Raven

Melanie joined ARK Syndicate Management Ltd at its inception in 2007.  She is the Joint Active Underwriter of Syndicate 4020 at Lloyd’s and a Director on the syndicate’s Board.   Prior to this role, she was the Senior Energy Underwriter responsible for the Upstream Energy and Renewable teams.

She started her career in 1989 at CIGNA Insurance Company of Europe where she underwrote the upstream energy portfolio as part of a combined upstream and downstream team.

In 1999, Melanie joined Aon.  She spent 4 years as a client facing account executive in the European team covering all aspects of the placing process.  During her 8-year tenure at Aon, she was promoted to a director and subsequently moved to the Energy broking team responsible for placing upstream business in the London Market.

Melanie was an elected member of the London Joint Natural Resources Committee from 2013 and chaired the committee from 2019 to 2023.  She is currently the Lloyd’s Market Association representative on the Offshore Energy Committee of International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) which she chairs.  Melanie sits on the LMA CUO Committee and joined the board of Nuclear Risk Insurers as a Non-Executive Director.
